Art and stray cats - Gallery donates part of sales to Tree House Animal Foundation

Line Drive Gallery in Evanston is holding a closing reception for its final show before moving to a new space in Chicago. Twenty-five artists are participating in the show including Sharon Swidler, former Tree House board member and long-time supporter. Ten percent of all sales to friends of Tree House will be donated to help support the programs and services of our cageless no-kill shelter. The gallery will match that for Swidler's work, so 20 percent of her sales will go to Tree House when you mention its name at the time of purchase.
Swidler will be showing a group of small works ranging in price from $150 to $700. The other pieces are as varied in style as they are in price. This is an eclectic show promising "something for everyone."
In addition at the closing reception on June 30, the gallery will be waiving 15 percent of its commission, so you can get a bargain on art and help a humane organization at the same time.
Line Drive Gallery is located at 1255 Hartrey Ave. (just south of Dempster between Dodge & McCormick). For more information, call (847) 570-0835. The exhibit runs through June 30. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, 1-5 p.m. See some of the artists' work at www.caconline.org.
Tree House was established in 1971 as a no-kill, cageless shelter for injured, abandoned, and abused stray cats. At Tree House, cats curl up on sunny windowsills, sleep in comfortable cat trees, and interact with staff, volunteers, and other cats.
Tree House currently shelters 300 cats and found loving homes for 535 cats in 2004. Nearly 12,000 cats have been adopted since Tree House's founding. Its in-house clinic offers full veterinary care (including spay and neuter) for all admitted cats, and its Socialization Program helps feral cats to adapt to domestic life. Tree House also offers a variety of community programs and informational publications to educate people on the importance of the human/animal bond.
