New adaptation of Shakespeare classic arrives at Theater Building

Live Tropical Fish Theatre Ensemble presents "Hamlet3," opening on Thursday, July 14, at Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. In this daring new adaptation of Shakespeare's classic, three Hamlets are used in a powerfully voyeuristic interpretation allowing the audience to peer into the psyche of the play itself. Performances will be Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Saturdays-Sundays at 2 p.m. The show will run through July 31. Tickets are $20, with $15 discount tickets for groups of 10 or more. To reserve tickets, call (773) 327-5252 or visit

Hamlet, with its themes of revenge, madness, and appearance versus reality, remains as moving and thought provoking as ever. Hamlet3 explores this classic from a fresh perspective by utilizing three Hamlets: his passive and plotting side, his emotional and vindictive side, and his unbalanced, trickster side. Though separate at first, as the play progresses they begin to merge and plot together. However, by the end, they all vie for position and eventually wrestle to the death to claim who is the true Hamlet.
