Kids' Car Rally at CMH

Four-year-old Sydney Nelson of Kentucky (pictured along with her service dog Rooney) recently participated in the first ever Kids' Car Rally to promote car safety and the ninth annual Luxury Car Raffle to benefit Children's Memorial Hospital. The event took place in the hospital's lobby in May.
A mini driving course was set up with lanes and various road signs to teach kids and their parents about important car safety tips. The participating kids included patients visiting the outpatient clinics at the hospital along with siblings of patients. Two Mini Cooper toy cars were available for the kids to drive through the course. The event also featured car seat and bicycle safety information for parents. Supported by UBS and members of the Chicago financial community, the luxury car raffle, now in its ninth year, has cumulatively raised more than $1.5 million for the patients of Children's Memorial Hospital. This year's raffle includes five luxury vehicle prizes which are: a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Convertible, a 2005 Mercedes SLK Convertible, a 2005 Land Rover LR3, a 2005 BMW Z4 Convertible and a pair of 2005 Mini Coopers —one hard top and one convertible or $40,000 in cash (pre-tax). Tickets to the raffle are currently on sale for $100 each. Only 5,000 tickets will be sold and there will be five winners selected during a drawing on July 15.
