Weiss Memorial Hospital opens wellness and fitness program

Weiss Memorial Hospital recently opened a wellness and fitness program serving Uptown and surrounding neighborhoods. A six or 12 session program starts at $200 and offers EKG monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, a series of fitness testing, personal interviews, nutrition evaluation and goal setting. A certified exercise physiologist personally tailors each program to meet an individual’s needs.

Research studies show regular exercise contributes to a person’s overall physical, mental and psychological well being. Physical fitness increases cardiovascular and muscular strength, while boosting the immune system to help combat against cold and flu viruses. Regular exercise also improves a person’s mental health by reducing anxiety and depression levels, plus refines psychological health by increasing awareness and alertness.

Fitness facility hours are based on personal needs and should be arranged with an exercise physiologist. To start a fitness program, contact the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Weiss Memorial, (773) 564-5898.
