The Civic Ballet of Chicago hosts its third annual donors showcase, Sunday, Oct. 14, at noon, with an open rehearsal featuring the vibrant young dance company’s works in progress. The fundraiser is at the Ruth Page Building, 1016 N. Dearborn Pkwy.
Larry and Dolores Long, artistic directors of the Civic Ballet of Chicago, are hosting the event at which potential donors may meet choreographers and members of the new ballet company, and preview dances scheduled to premiere at Civic Ballet’s holiday concert Dec. 1 and 2 at the University of Illinois Theatre.
“We are looking for donors, people who love dance and dancers and are interested in fostering this exciting opportunity for young performers and choreographers and in being a part of this ongoing artistic vision,” Larry Long said.
Founded July 24, 1998, Civic Ballet of Chicago is a dance performance ensemble focused on expanding the education and development of young dancers by providing a transition between the classroom and the professional stage. Additionally, the company provides a new venue for the talents of Chicago’s many choreographers and resident professional dancers. Civic Ballet of Chicago hopes to promote and enhance the public’s appreciation of and access to the world of dance.
