Illinois Military Family Relief Fund to get $100,000 at Rock Around The Block Fest

Chicago's annual Rock Around the Block neighborhood fest has a special encore in store for Illinois families this year. CareerBuilder.com, the nation's largest online job site, will be presenting a check for $100,000 to the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund (IMFRF), an organization that helps families with cost of food, housing, utilities, medical services and other expenses while members are away on military duty. The check will be presented to Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn, the founder of IMFRF, on Saturday, July 16, at 3:30 p.m. at Rock Around the Block's North stage located at Lincoln Ave. and Addison St.
Sponsored by CareerBuilder.com and 93-WXRT, Rock Around the Block is entering its 12th season as a major music and culinary fair. On Saturday and Sunday, July 16 and 17, a stellar lineup of musical acts will be playing on three stages at one of the most highly visible intersections in Chicago - Lincoln and Addison. They include Old 97's, The Spin Doctors, Indigenous, and Mason Jennings, along with Chicago favorites Hairbanger's Ball and Mike and Joe.
In addition to ongoing musical entertainment, there will also be arts and crafts vendors, a wide variety of food, street performers and kids' events.
