Hurry up! County accelerates planned enforcement of dog permits to mid August

Cook County Animal Care and Control will begin enforcing the new permit system for dogs at Dog Friendly Areas county-wide even sooner than first reported here two weeks ago. Starting Monday, August 15, anyone using any of the Dog Friendly parks in Chicago will be subject to a fine [$500 per dog, per violation] if an owners' dog is not registered and following the posted rules. A public meeting on this matter has been set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Margate Park Fieldhouse, 4921 N. Marine Dr. In addition, the regular board meeting of the Chicago Park District, which will address a broad agenda, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at 541 N. Fairbanks Ct., Eighth Floor Board Room. Inside will have a reporter at both meetings.
