Kids' Carnival, food, fashion show/cooking demo at Taste of Lincoln Avenue July 30, 31

One of the city's largest and most popular summer celebrations, the Taste of Lincoln Avenue, featuring four music stages, a kids' carnival, a fine arts area — dubbed Lill Street Art Fair — as well as a new (fifth) stage featuring fashion shows and cooking demonstrations, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 30-31.
Now celebrating its 22nd year, the festival will be held from noon to 10 p.m. both days on Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton and Wrightwood avenues in Chicago's DePaul/ Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Gate donation is $7 before 5 p.m. and $10 after 5 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Wrightwood Neighbors Association which, in turn, makes grants to charitable organizations that serve the Wrightwood community.
In addition to more than 200 booths featuring goods from local merchants and, of course, food vendors, an eclectic lineup of more than 35 acts in genres from rock and Latin to folk and blues will perform on the Taste of Lincoln Avenue's four music stages. They include Buckwheat Zydeco, Men at Work's Colin Hay, Savoy Brown, Xavier Rudd, Hello Dave, Mike & Joe, the Young Dubliners and many more.
In addition, a new stage will make its debut this year. Located on Lill Street between Lincoln and Halsted, it will feature fashion shows produced by Chicago's acclaimed International Academy of Design & Technology, cooking demonstrations by the Washburne Culinary Institute and, between scheduled events, music provided by deejays. (Cooking shows will be held at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. both days. Fashion shows will be held at 6 p.m. both days.)
There will also be a free Kids' Carnival from noon to 6 p.m. each day on Altgeld St. between Lincoln Ave. and Halsted St. (entrance on Halsted) that features inflatables, a petting zoo, pony rides and staged entertainment including Radio Disney on Sunday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.
