New owner expands contemporary Italian menu at Sausalito

Sausalito, 543 W. Diversey, has been serving quality food for years. Now expect even more delectable entrees and tempting cocktails as new owner Sharon McGill expands the contemporary Italian menu. Only the freshest of ingredients and best spirits are served in this warm, convivial eatery. Tuscan Gold walls, burgundy accents, quiet tables in the rear, away from the lively bar, and umbrella-topped tables for outdoor dining welcome and accommodate all diners.
The Sausalito menu includes such specialties as Sausalito Crab Cake: Freshly made crab cakes, topped with a creamy mustard sauce and sautéed spinach; Scallops Portabella: Marinated Portabella topped with sautéed scallops, drenched with a garlic butter sauce; Shrimp Diablo: Sautéed shrimp ladled with a spicy garlic butter and tomato basil sauce; Duck Country Paté: Homemade duck paté garnished with spicy mustard; Grilled Lamb Racks: Served with garlic mashed potatoes and a natural mint sauce. And that's just the appetizers.
The Entrée selection now includes Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut: Served with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and sweet onion relish; Chicken Tuscany: Whole boneless chicken roasted with thyme, garlic, lemon and roasted red potatoes; Pan-Roasted Tilapia: coated with panko bread crumbs and served with mashed potatoes and lemon caper sauce; Grilled Center Cut Pork Chops: Served with sweet red cabbage, roasted red potatoes, sautéed green apples, and Calvados sauce; Grilled New York Steak: Peppercorn-coated and topped with a cognac cream sauce, potatoes.
Among the popular Pasta selections are Gnocchi with Vodka Cream Sauce: Served with spinach; Lasagna Bolognese: Spinach noodles, layered with four cheeses and bathed in Sausalito's famed meat sauce; Linguine: Available with mussels, clams or calamari topped with a spicy red sauce or milder garlic oil sauce.
Combining artistic presentation with top notch culinary delights, Sausalito is well worth a visit. Prices for the restaurant range from only $7 for the Fried Calamari or Duck Paté, to $18 for the Grilled New York Steak, with most of the entrées in the $15 range. Sausalito also features a Sunday Brunch, with selections of heartier chicken and pasta dishes as well as breakfast entrées for just $9.95.
