Rapper R. Kelly's former Chicago home sells

The former R. Kelly residence in Lincoln Park has sold again for $2.4 million after failing at auction. This 10,000-sq. ft. entertainment mansion, where the famous R & B artist Kelly recorded during the nights and slept during the days, is located at 1010 W. George St. near Sheffield and Diversey avenues. An unnamed music industry figure bought the residence.
The home contained a complete music studio where R. Kelly produced and recorded big hits through the nights. Kelly lived upstairs and installed total light-blackening equipment, a lap pool, three whirlpools, a basketball/ racquetball court, a comprehensive security system with zone protections and video monitoring, a view-through aquarium and luxury finishes all around.
The structure at 1010 W. George was originally a Gothic-style church. R. Kelly converted it to a residence approximately 10 years ago and sold it several years ago.
