Swedish Covenant Hospital is the only Chicago hospital and one of only 36 facilities nationwide to be honored with the prestigious 2005 Hospital of Choice Award by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHCP). Other winners this year include UCLA Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Winning hospitals must display a remarkable effort toward quality care; patient, family and physician satisfaction; and community service, according to the AAHCP.
Facilities are judged on the AAHCP's 10-point criteria in professional ethics, standards of conduct, patients' rights, performance management, staff development & communication systems.
