Nicole Kloiber, owner of Simon's Shine Shop, poses with her dog Simon to celebrate the one year anniversary of their car wash. Kloiber is partnering with PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) to host the "Paws for a Cause" dog wash on Saturday, Aug. 6. The dog wash, which is open to the public, takes place at Simon's Shine Shop, 1439 W. Shakespeare Ave., behind the Webster Street Theaters. All proceeds from the dog wash will go directly to PAWS. For more information, please call (773) 348-2000.
Kloiber named her upscale "car spa" for her dog, Simon (a 110 pound Alaskan malamute). "We are thrilled to partner with PAWS and are proud to support their efforts," said Kloiber, a life-long animal lover who decided to open her own car wash last year after Simon's heavy shedding caused her to clean and vacuum her car at least once a week. "A dog wash is a perfect way to celebrate our one year anniversary, especially since Simon is at the car wash every day greeting our customers. The entire community is welcome at Simon's to be part of the festivities, and everyone is invited, whether they have a dog or not!"
Dog washes take place from noon to 4 p.m. The car wash is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dog washes are $10 each, and all proceeds benefit PAWS Chicago. A portion of the day's car wash sales will also be donated to PAWS Chicago. For more information, call (773) 348-2000 or visit www.simonsshineshop.com.
Dozens of people have volunteered to wash dogs during Simon's one-year anniversary celebration. Complimentary refreshments will be served throughout the day and each dog will receive a goody bag. Raffle prizes and giveaways will also be part of the fun. Sponsors include PetCo, Galloping Gourmutts, Family Pet Animal Hospital, Animal Lovers Pet Salon, Citizen Canine and Barker & Meowsky. |
