The final round of 2005 National Merit Scholarship winners has been announced. The Scholars were chosen from a national pool of 15,000 semi-finalists announced last fall who were selected on their academic record, two sets of test scores, school and community activities, an essay describing interests and goals, and a recommendation written by a high school official. The winners were announced in three categories over the last two months: corporate-sponsored scholarships, college-sponsored scholarships and National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarships.
