Animal Images: Anti-Cruelty Society's art show

The Anti-Cruelty Society's fifth annual juried art show, titled Animal Images, will run from Oct. 1 through Oct. 14 in The Society's Mullane Auditorium, 169 W. Grand Ave. The exhibition will feature artists whose work consists of an animal-theme. Artwork has been accepted in the categories of oil/ acrylic, water-based media, mixed-media, photography, and sculpture, all juried by gallery director Aldo Castillo. Awards will be presented in the five categories as well as Best of Show and People's Choice, with an opening night opportunity for guests to vote for their favorite piece on display.
There is a $10 fee to attend the opening night artists' reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, which will include refreshments, live music and presentation of awards. Exhibit viewing hours are free and run Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from noon to 3 p.m. Validated parking is available in The Anti-Cruelty Society garage on the corner of Wells St. and Grand Ave.
All art work will be available for sale. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Anti-Cruelty Society programs and services.
The Anti-Cruelty Society helps more than 25,000 animals each year through shelter, adoption, veterinary, cruelty investigation and rescue, humane education and community outreach, behavior and training programs, and dog training classes. The Bruckner Rehabilitation Center opened in November 2004 and is already credited with saving the lives of an additional 600+ animals. Last year, The Anti-Cruelty Society found loving homes for over 6,500 dogs and cats, and spayed or neutered almost 12,000 pets.
