Cathy Lieberman's participation in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is personal. She and two of her sisters are breast cancer survivors.
"I'm raising money for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer because I know personally what a horrible disease this is," said Lieberman, who is the chief financial officer for Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School, 3751 N. Broadway, and is vice chair of the American Cancer Society's Chicago Community Leadership Board.
"My life is full of women, who mean the world to me — mother, daughter, sisters, aunts, cousins, friends and colleagues — I care about them all," she said. "Breast cancer has touched both my sisters and several of my friends, and it scares me to think about who may be the next victim of this dreadful disease. That's why I support ACS's Strides Walk."
This will be the fourth year that Lieberman and her family and friends have participated, and they have raised more than $13,000 to support breast cancer research, education and programs. She is one of the top fund-raisers again this year with a goal of raising $3,000 or more.
Lieberman will be one of the featured speakers at this year's event, as she was last year.
