| Play in Gunder Mansion
Collage Productions will present Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey Into Night,” Oct. 21 - Nov. 20, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., in a staging that recreates the real life action of the play within the North Lakeside Cultural Center’s Gunder Mansion.
This production of the moving, autobiographical play by Eugene O’Neill will include original music by Clayton J. Horath. The cast is comprised of Barbara Button, Jeff Helgeson, Esther Baum-Taylor, Jeff McVann (pictured right), and Paul Perroni (pictured left). The production will also feature paintings by George C. Seniors speak out
Three hundred older adults will gather with elected officials and others for the Jane Addams Senior Caucus’ (JASC) annual meeting on Monday, Oct. 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. JASC will launch its campaign to keep seniors in the community by changing the Community Care Program so that Illinois seniors can be given quality care in their own homes rather than in nursing homes. The meeting will be held at St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church, 5649 N. Sheridan Rd.
Graceland Cemetery
A history walk through Graceland Cemetery will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. by the Ravenswood - Lake View Historical Association. Participants will start from the cemetery entrance at Clark St. and Irving Park Rd. and visit more than 20 grave sites with significance in the history of the North Side, Chicago and the nation. The guide will be Richard Bjorklund, author of books and articles on Chicago history. The cost of the tour is $10, or $7.50 for association members. Call (312) 742-4455 for more information.

Hermitage Ave. Fashions reflecting the '50s through the '80s will be available including imaginative possibilities for Halloween costumes. Clothing for infants, children, men, women, boys and girls will be found, as well as accessories, shoes, and boots at very modest prices. “City Light” will be on view at Bell Studio, 3428 N. Southport Ave., Oct. 18 - Nov. 20. The artist’s reception will be on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. “With the paintings in 'City Light,' I try to convey how it is that I am often struck by the character of light that illuminates the city, and by the way the city itself sometimes lends its own quality of light to the air around it,” said Bartelt.

Profiles Theatre presents Rebecca Gilman’s “The Glory of Living,” directed by Carla Russell, Oct. 13 - Nov. 27 at the Profiles Theatre, 4147 N. Broadway. "The Glory of Living" traces the journey of a teenage girl who runs away with an ex-convict only to be drawn into a world of lost innocence and murder. Tickets are $22 on Fridays and Saturdays and $18 on Thursdays and Sundays. Preview performances will be held Oct. 10, 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. with tickets at $10. Students and senior citizens receive a $5 discount on all performances; group rates are also available. Paid parking is located near the theatre. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Irish Theatre
Shapeshifters Theatre, the resident theatre company of the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave., presents “The Hearthstone,” by local playwright Sean Callan. This comedy opens Friday, Oct. 7, and runs through Oct. 23. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are $8 for IAHC members and seniors, and $10 for the general public.

'Chicago Phoenix'
Pictured is the cover of "Chicago Phoenix," a new book of poetry based on Chicago history by Cathleen Schandelmeier-Bartels, that will have its pre-release bash at the Peter Jones Gallery, 1806 W. Cuyler Ave., at 6 and 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, and at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. The bash is part of "Moving Chicago," a multi-arts extravaganza featuring performance artist Francois LeRoux from South Africa, and the Shadow Puppets of Patrick McCarthy of Rubber Monkey Puppets. The cover illustrates the souls of children rising above the clash and turmoil of everyday life. |

Stolen Buick Studio
The Stolen Buick Studio, 1303 W. Chicago Ave., will celebrate its 10th anniversary of presenting documentary art with their new fall exhibit, Ten Years After, Oct. 8 - Nov. 19. Ten Years After is a culmination of black & white and color street photography and scenic landscapes from divergent cultures and locales, taken in America and abroad, by husband and wife team Alexandra and Michael Buxbaum. The Stolen Buick Studio will also participate in the third annual East Village Arts Walk taking place Oct. 17, noon - 6 p.m.

Joffrey Ballet
The Joffrey Ballet will present "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" in nine performances only, Oct. 19 - 30, at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. Live orchestral accompaniment will be provided by the Chicago Sinfonietta.
“The Dream” is Sir Frederick Ashton’s Victorian-era rendering of the complete Shakespeare tale of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” a comedy of love and mischief set in the magical woods of Victorian England to a spell-binding score by Felix Mendelssohn. "The Dream" tells the story of a quarrel between Oberon and Titania, who are the King and Queen of Fairyland, the sprite Puck, and the bewildered mortals who wander into the forest and fall victim to a myriad of spells gone awry.
The performance schedule is as follows: Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 22, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m.

‘The Way to the West’
At 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, join the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center in a special screening of the award winning film "The Way to the West," directed by Kyriakos Katzourakis.
