Antiques Roadshow appraiser in town Oct. 8

Is it possible that some of those "tucked away" items in your attic may not be junk after all? In fact, you may want to brush them off and consider having a potential treasure appraised, for free, by an Antiques Roadshow expert.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Admiral at the Lake’s lovely outdoor garden at 909 W. Foster Ave., art and antiques enthusiasts may each bring one item for evaluation by appraiser Gary Piattoni.
He is a nationally recognized expert in art and antiques who has appeared numerous times on PBS’s “Antique Roadshow.” He will be offering verbal appraisals and uncovering the city’s best finds. Other experts will include international antiques and art dealer Stephen Maras.
The popularity of TV programs like “Antiques Roadshow” has sparked interest in knowing the value of personal collectibles and heirlooms. Some people just want to be more knowledgeable about their antiques, whether they’ve been passed down through family generations or recently acquired.
The Admiral at the Lake Antiques Roadshow is free and open to the public. Valet parking, classical music and refreshment will be included. For further information, please contact Mary Grimes at (773) 654-5160.
The Admiral at the Lake is a continuing care retirement community, which is dedicated to quality service and personal choice in retirement living.

Note: Piattoni does not appraise coin and stamp collections or jewelry.
