Careful observation and fast footwork rewarded police with several arrests last Thursday. At 6:18 p.m. Sept. 29, police received a call of “shots fired” from a vehicle, and spotted a green ’94 Dodge sedan that matched the description of the offenders' vehicle in the 4100 block of N. Kenmore Ave. They curbed the vehicle and advised all four black occupants to exit the vehicle. Two of them, Mark McNulty, 18, and Boshaun Jackson, 18, were each observed attempting to conceal a medium-size object in the waistband. The two then fled on foot in opposite directions.
Police gave chase, apprehending McNulty after observing him discarding to the ground a blue steel revolver with four live rounds. Officers observed Jackson throwing a Smith & Wesson blue steel revolver, with three live rounds, onto the roof of a garage. Jackson then jumped a fence and fled. His identity was determined by a Harper High School ID that he left behind in the car.
The third offender fled into a multi-unit apartment building and locked the foyer door behind him. His identity was determined by interviews with those in custody. The fourth offender, only 15 years old, was arrested on the scene. All four were gang members. |
