From left, Angela Walsh plays Zubeida, Lawrence DiStasi plays Alphonse van Worden, and Louise Lamson is Emina in Lookingglass Theatre Company's "Manuscript Found in Saragossa." Full of danger, ripe with sensuality, it tells the fever dream ghost stories of Alphonse van Worden, a young Walloon officer journeying to join his regiment in Madrid in 1739. Diverted along the way to the dreaded Sierra Morena mountains, Von Worden finds himself detained, confused, psychologically torn, and tempted by a mysterious band of thieves, cabbalists, noblemen, gypsies, and his temptress cousins Emina and Zubeida.
Previews are Oct. 30-Nov. 6. Performances run through Dec. 11 in the intimate Lookingglass Theater at the Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave.
