INTERNATIONAL FILM COMPETITION
The Gold Hugo – Best Film is awarded to My Nikifor/Moj Nikifor (Poland), directed by Krzysztof Krauze.
The Silver Hugo – Special Jury Prize is awarded to The Death of Mr. Lazarescu/ Moartea Domnului Lazarescu (Romania)
Silver Hugo Award – Best Actress is awarded to Inka Friedrich and Nadja Uhl of Summer In Berlin/Sommer Vorm Balkon (Germany)
Silver Hugo Award – Best Actor is awarded to: Roman Gancarczyk of My Nikifor/Moj Nikifor (Poland)
Gold Hugo – Lifetime Achievement Award Manoel de Oliveira

NEW DIRECTORS COMPETITION
The 2005 FIPRESCI Prize is awarded to La Moustache (France), directed by Emmanuel Carrere.

SHORT FILM COMPETITION
The Gold Hugo for Best Short Film is awarded to One Minute Past Midnight (United Kingdom)
The Gold Hugo for Best Student Film is awarded to Chicle (United States), directed by Josh Hyde.
The Gold Hugo for Best Animated Film is awarded to Clara (Australia)
Experimental Short Film Ry Russo-Young’s Marion (United States)
Student Animated Film Lizzi Akana’s Marvelous, Keen Loony Bin (United States)
Gold Plaques for Narrative Short Films Kitchen (France), directed by Alice Winocour, and The Raftman’s Razor (United States), directed by Keith Bearden.
Gold Plaque for Experimental Short Film is awarded to Spacer (Canada) directed by Guy Roland.
Gold Plaque for Animated Short Film is awarded to The Legend of the Scarecrow (Spain), directed by Marco Besas.
Silver Plaques for Narrative Short Films are awarded to Divorce Lemonade (United States), directed by Justin Hayward, and Jesus Children of America (United States), directed by Spike Lee.

DOCUFEST COMPETITION
Gold Hugo for Best Documentary Feature awarded to The Boys of Baraka (United States), directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady.
Aquafina Pure Vision Award and a $5,000 cash prize also was awarded to The Boys of Baraka as Best Documentary Feature.
The Silver Hugo for Best Documentary Feature is awarded to The Devil’s Miner (United States/Germany), directed by Kief Davidson and Richard Ladkani.

CHICAGO AWARD
The Chicago Award is presented to a Chicago or Illinois artist for the best feature film, short film or documentary.
Lemmings, an animated short film by Ron Fleischer.

TERRA NOVA SILVER IMAGES GENERATIONS AWARD
The Terra Nova Silver Images Award goes to both Mrs. Henderson Presents (United Kingdom), directed by Stephen Frears, and My Grandmother’s House/ La Casa de Mi Abuela (Spain), directed by Adan Aliaga for “portraying realistic and multi-dimensional images about older adulthood.” The winners each receive a $1,250 cash prize, courtesy of Terra Nova Films.
