Fast, fresh, healthy eating for local residents

Okay, so you'd like to eat healthier, but you aren't big on cooking or just don't have the time, and you don't go for those frozen "diet dinners" or boring shakes. North Side residents Sylvia and Erin French are working to remove all of those barriers to a "healthier you."
In 1997 Sylvia began researching business opportunities and was quickly sold on the Seattle Sutton approach. "I looked into it and found that it was a great concept—food that's fast, fresh and healthy." She credits the success of her business to the excellence of the healthy eating products and her belief in the program. The plan provides people with a full week's worth of freshly prepared meals, each controlled for calories, sodium, fat and cholesterol.
"I have seen first-hand how many of my own clients improve their health—diabetics who better control their blood sugars, individuals who have seen drops in high cholesterol levels, and others who lower their blood pressure—after following the Healthy Eating plan," she said. If a client has any health issues, she suggests that he or she talk to a doctor before using the program. Many clients join the program just because it is convenient and healthy.
The meals are prepared in the "home office" in Ottawa, IL, and are transported by truck to the various distribution centers. Customers have the option of choosing one of two calorie portions—1,200 or 2,000 calories per day—for the meal plan. The menus rotate on a five-week basis and repeat.
Sylvia now distributes Seattle Sutton's foods from two locations. Her daughter Erin came on board one year ago and she enjoys being in such a positive environment. "It's been great getting to know our clients. I take a personal interest in their well being!" said Erin.
Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating operates on Mondays and Thursdays only. Their locations are 5244 N. Sheridan Rd. and 4824 N. Damen Ave.
