Lincoln Square Theatre (LST), 4754 N. Leavitt St., presents "Little Women," adapted by Peter Clapham and directed by Kristina Schramm, from Nov. 4 through Dec. 3. Louisa May Alcott's famous novel has remained a favorite since it was first published in 1868. The March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—and their young suitors are full of the zest of life. The American Civil War rages and hard times are aplenty but the family themes of love and caring are timeless and an inspiration.
The cast features Maggie Cain, Sonja Coates, Sophia de Oliveira, Micah Fortenberry, Rachael Fostvedt, Ross Freier, Rhiannon Koehler, Floyd A. May, Joyce Porter, Debra Rodkin and Bill Zasadil. The staff consists of Stage Manager Joshua Dlouhy, Costume Designer Cybele Moon, Lighting Designer Greg Bloxham, and Sound Designer Geraldo de Oliveira.
Shows take place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 6 p.m. There will be matinees at 2 p.m. both Nov. 12 and Nov. 19. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and half price on Thursdays. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by calling (773) 275-7930. Parking is available on the street as well as on the north side of Lawrence Ave. in the Ravenswood Bank parking lot.
In conjunction with "Little Women," the LST will sponsor the first fundraiser of the season on Saturday, Nov. 19. The event, Theatre & High Tea, includes tickets to one of the two performances on that date, as well as admission to the accompanying tea. For the matinee performance—beginning at 2 p.m.—the tea will begin directly after. For the evening performance—beginning at 8 p.m.—the tea will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for Theatre & High Tea are $35 each and must be reserved at (773) 275-7930 and prepaid before Nov. 10. Tickets for the tea will not be available at the door. Checks may be made out to the Lincoln Square Arts Center and mailed to 4754 N. Leavitt St., Chicago, IL 60625. Theatre-only tickets will be sold for both performances depending on availability. |
