Free lectures at Anti-Cruelty Society

From learning about the health risks of obesity in pets to agility exercises for your dog, the free lectures at the Anti-Cruelty Society offer something for all animal lovers. Everyone is welcome. Lectures will be held in the Society’s Education and Training Center at 169 W. Grand Ave.
"An Ounce Of Prevention: Why You Must Watch Your Pets' Weight" will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. In pets as in people, obesity can lead to diabetes, heart problems, arthritis and other common health problems. Find out more from Dr. Tom Graves, an expert on the treatment of geriatric pets, why keeping your pets' weight healthy can literally add years to their lives.
Is your dog active? The Dog Agility Demonstration from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, could be an excellent way to channel your pets' energy positively. Phyllis Beidron of Blairwood Canine Agility and Stacy Hawk of Hawk City K-9 Agility will familiarize the audience with dog agility, then provide interested participants and their dogs some hands-on instruction.
Don’t forget about Fido and Fluffy for the holidays! Stop by the Anti-Cruelty Society from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, for a Holiday Tea and Shopping Party! Visit the "Pets Like Presents, Too!" Table in the adoption waiting room to make a free gift for your pet. Adults and kids will enjoy making cat dancers or dog goodie bags, or decorating a picture frame for the pet’s photo.
