Featuring a unique array of merchandise, Ye Merrie Marketplace comes alive from noon to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4, at Church of Our Saviour, 530 W. Fullerton Pkwy. The holiday bazaar benefits homeless programs and other area social services.
"The Merrie Marketplace is a great way to shop without guilt," says Chairperson Linda Aubel-Edick. "Last year, 50 percent of proceeds went to worthwhile organizations like the Bottomless Closet, which provides business apparel to low-income women, and Interfaith House, a respite center offering medical care and shelter for homeless adults, including AIDS patients, after hospitalization."
Deborah's Place, Community Health, Horizon Hospice, Lincoln Park Community Shelter and United Power, and Rainbow House also received funds.
Vendors, many from the Armitage-Halsted shopping area, will present a rich merchandise mix—from Nuada's contemporary Irish ceramics and home accessories to Bavarian Workshop's European ornaments and decorations, to antique buttons wrought into jewelry at Beyond Buttons. Other goodies will include handmade LFN textiles, the Argo teas, florals from Fresh and Faux by Jeffrey Jonen, handmade paper goods from Deborah's Place, handcrafted candles and handblown ornaments from Dom-itt, and nonstick flexible bakeware from Demarle. The upscale Molly West line of leather books and journals, which Oprah Winfrey uses for gift-giving, will also be on hand. |
