Each year the Lincoln Park Conservatory Council, a council of the Lincoln Park Conservancy, presents a festive fundraiser by auctioning special wreaths at its Hothouse Holiday. The festivities will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Conservatory, 2391 N. Stockton Dr.
Hothouse Holiday is a benefit party to help support the Conservatory. It features WreathArt, a silent auction of wreaths created by some of Chicago's leading artists, architects and designers. Partygoers will have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary buffet, music and libations. There will also be a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind artwork by Edward Paschke, Richard Hunt, Tony Fitzpatrick, Chris Garofalo and Douglas Dawson.
Tickets are $85 in advance and $100 at the door. There is limited complimentary parking behind the conservatory as well as additional free parking at the Lincoln Park Zoo parking lot.
The mission of the Lincoln Park Conservatory Council is to promote the appreciation, understanding and use of the historic Conservatory through development and funding of quality displays and educational programs, as well as to position the conservatory as a premier sightseeing and tourist destination.
The proceeds from the Hothouse Holiday party will help pay for the Conservatory's Master Plan. In March, the Lincoln Park Conservancy hired David Woodhouse Architects to develop a master plan for improvements to the Conservatory. As part of the Master Plan process, two public meeting were held this year to both inform and ask the public for input. (Visit insideonline.com to read coverage of the plans in the issues of Oct. 26-Nov. 1 and Nov. 23-29, 2005.)
