Starting tomorrow, Dec. 1, the city's winter overnight parking ban returns. There will be no parking on certain arterial streets from 3 to 7 a.m. until April 1—even if there is no snow at all. Park there overnight and you'll get towed, then pay a minimum $150 towing fee and a $50 ticket. Every year many motorists are caught unaware by the arrival of the ban; these drivers face the expensive and time-consuming hassle of retrieving their vehicles.
A separate ban on parking applies to another 500 miles of main streets whenever at least two inches of snow blanket the street, whether day or night. A ticket and a re-location by tow truck to a nearby legal spot will affect violators.
Both bans are posted on signs on the affected streets.
