Free family concert showcases Suzuki-Orff faculty, marks 25th anniversary

Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians, located at 1148 W. Chicago Ave., has announced the first in a series of 25th anniversary events: a free faculty recital to be held in Lutkin Hall of Northwestern University at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. The family concert will showcase the talents of Suzuki-Orff's acclaimed faculty. Faculty members will be recognized with awards for their distinguished service to the school. Immediately following the concert, refreshments will be available at a reception. Lutkin Hall is located at 700 University Place in Evanston.
For those new to Suzuki-Orff, it's a great introduction to the teachers, staff, and families. It's also an inspiring concert for students (and parents)—they can see the possibilities that await them, hear something outside of Suzuki repertoire, and see their teachers in a different light.
Whether you're a current or a long-ago student, or you'd like to get acquainted with this beloved school, come and help Suzuki-Orff celebrate! Kindly RSVP to (312) 738-2646, ext. 31.
The Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians is committed to exceptional arts education that serves as a catalyst to help children reach their greatest potential. Their innovative curricula develop children's musical abilities and nurture creativity and self-expression. The program develops music and critical thinking skills, accelerates academic achievement, and incorporates family as an integral part of a child's learning experiences.
The School brings together families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, with a strong emphasis on reaching those who face significant economic and environmental challenges. Their fundamental goal is quality music education for children in a family-centered environment.
Suzuki-Orff purchased and built 7,500 square feet of space within a former furniture factory in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Last year, they participated in collaborative programming with the Consortium, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, Fourth Presbyterian Church, and the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
