Thousands of twinkling holiday lights brighten

The holiday season sparkles at neighborhood parks, thanks to festive light displays that will shine daily through March 1. The Chicago Park District traditionally drapes fountains and field houses with festive lights that begin lighting the night sky on the day after Thanksgiving. This year's theme is classic clear white lights. The park district has decorated the parks in holiday lights since 1994.
Downtown Chicago is aglow as holiday lights brighten Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park. Lights also drape the Art in the Garden sculpture located atop the triangle-shaped median on the Congress Parkway, just east of Michigan Avenue in Grant Park. Icicle lights hang from the field houses in Indian Boundary Park, 2500 W. Lunt Ave., Seward Park, 375 W. Elm St., and Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St.
