The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) has announced that 95 teachers in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) have achieved the highest credential in their profession, National Board Certification. This year's class brings the total in Chicago to 472. Based on a rigorous, performance-based assessment process that is administered by the NBPTS and typically takes about a year to complete, National Board Certification is widely recognized as an objective way to identify and support some of the nation's best teachers. Lincoln Park High School art teacher Elizabeth Drake is among those teachers achieving this distinction. |
