Bring your tree or recyclables to Notebaert Saturday - then bring your family to Notebaert for free

Recycle your tree at the Nature Museum for a free pass and a year’s supply of blue bags. Simply bring your Christmas tree and other holiday recyclables to the Notebaert Nature Museum on Saturday, Jan. 7, and get a free family pass to the Museum. The one-time pass can be used on the day of your choice, through Dec. 31, 2006. You'll also get a year’s supply of blue bags.
The Notebaert Nature Museum is one of several sites participating in the city’s annual ”Turn Green into Blue” recycling event. The city encourages residents to drop off their tree or a bag of recyclables (such as metal cans, glass, plastic bottles, or paper). The trees brought to sites for recycling are placed into a chipper and turned into mulch. To avoid damaging the chipping machine, please remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, wiring and other materials from the tree before recycling. For more information visit naturemuseum.org and cityofchicago.org.
The Nature Museum is open every day except Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located at 2430 N. Cannon Dr. (at Fullerton Ave.) in Chicago’s Lincoln Park.
The Nature Museum houses the region’s only year-round butterfly haven, with 75 species of native and exotic butterflies, and is one of the city’s best examples of eco-friendly building technology, including a green roof, solar panels, natural light sources and native landscaping.
