CEO named for Daughters of Charity Ministries of Chicago

Responsibilities include St. Vincent de Paul Center

Sister Renée Rose, D.C., who has many years of administrative experience in social service and health care organizations, has been named chief executive officer of the Daughters of Charity Ministries of Chicago, which includes Marillac Social Center and St. Vincent de Paul Center.
Sister Renée succeeds Sister Catherine Mary Norris, D.C., who was named to the Provincial Council of the Daughters of Charity East Central Province, in Evansville, IN.
Sister Renée previously served as executive director of St. Joseph's Services, a new Daughters of Charity-sponsored agency serving the Humboldt Park and Austin communities. In Humboldt Park, St. Joseph's Services converted a former convent of St. Mark's Parish into Casa de Providencia, which provides classes in English as a second language, after-school programs, emergency services, and adult computer classes. In the Austin community, St. Joseph's provides social services and outreach at San Miguel School, which serves grades 6-8.
From 1989 to 2001, Sister Renée held a range of administrative positions in Milwaukee. She was president and chief executive officer of St. Mary's Hospitals, then became board chair for Columbia-St. Mary's merged hospitals, then president and CEO of Horizon Health Care System, which encompassed eight hospitals in Milwaukee, including Columbia-St. Mary's.
Sister Renée has also been president and CEO of a small hospital in Boonville, IN, and has held other positions in administration and nursing, including senior vice-president at St. Joseph Hospital, 2900 Lake Shore Dr.
"I have many years of experience in bringing organizations together to work collaboratively," Sister Renée said, "and I will apply all the skills I have to fulfilling the mission of the Daughters of Charity Ministries of Chicago. I have found many talented and dedicated people at Marillac House and St. Vincent's, and I firmly believe that when you create synergy between two organizations like this, you get much, much more than the sum of the parts."
Marillac House and St. Vincent's provide day care and social services for more than 800 children and their families, plus assistance for the homeless and the elderly. Marillac House is at 212 S. Francisco Ave., in East Garfield Park, and St. Vincent's is in Lincoln Park, at 2145 N. Halsted St.
Sister Renée served on the joint Marillac-St. Vincent's board from its creation three years ago until her appointment as CEO of the Daughters of Charity Ministries of Chicago, and she had served on Marillac's board for one year before that. Sister Renée is also on the board of St. Anthony's Hospital, Chicago; Columbia-St. Mary's in Milwaukee; the Alexian Brothers System, Arlington Heights; and the Illinois Catholic Conference Board.
Sr. Catherine Mary—"Sister Katie"—spent 20 years at St. Vincent's as supervisor of social work, executive director, and CEO for both Marillac and
St. Vincent's.
