Nominations for the annual Human Relations Awards will be accepted until Friday, Nov. 30. “The Human Relations Awards honor those whose work has reached beyond boundaries to embrace all of Chicago,” said Clarence Wood, chairman of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations (CCHR). “The awards single out Chicago citizens, corporations, and for-profit and non-profit organizations that have worked toward making Chicago bias-free by making us a city that works for all its citizens.”
Nomination forms are available upon request. Completed nominations and support materials should be sent to Chicago Commission on Human Relations, Human Relations Awards, 740 N. Sedgwick St., third floor, Chicago, IL 60610.
Up to four Human Relations Awards will be presented. In addition, the chairman of the commission selects one awardee for The Thomas & Eleanor Wright Human Relations Award. Named for the commission’s first executive director (1945-52), this award category recognizes exemplary contributions that set a standard of excellence in human relations for all of Chicago.
For all other awards, a selection committee reviews nominations and recommends awardees to the CCHR Board of Commissioners for its approval. All awards will be presented at the commission’s 57th annual luncheon on Jan. 23 at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel.
To request a nomination form or for more information on the awards, contact the commission at (312) 744-4111 or TTY (312) 744-1088.
