Public meeting on Lincoln Avenue SSA #35

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor a public meeting regarding Lincoln Avenue Special Service Area (SSA) #35 with Ald. Vi Daley (43rd), Ald. Ted Matlak (32nd) and the Department of Planning and Development. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Bigler Auditorium of Children's Memorial Hospital, 2300 N. Lincoln Ave. This will be an informational meeting focusing on the nuts and bolts of an SSA, a review of the proposed scope of services for the Lincoln Avenue SSA and a review of the Commissioner recruitment and application process.
SSA Commissioners are mayorally appointed and City Council-confirmed. They are responsible for the oversight of SSA work plans, budgets and service providers. Lincoln Avenue property or business owners may complete and deliver a sealed application to either alderman's office by March 15. A local Nominating Committee will select the slate of five Commissioners. Nominees then submit a Principal Profile Form for city debt and state child support debt checks. Commissioner applications will be available at this meeting and are also available at the offices of Ald. Matlak, Ald. Daley and the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce.
