Seven Lake View art galleries will come together for the Art View in Lakeview tour in Chicago's trendy North Side artist corridor from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. Guests and art lovers are invited to ride the complimentary trolley that will be shuttling guests from gallery to gallery that evening. Enjoy beautiful art while sampling wines, sipping sparkling water and tasting a variety of appetizers from area restaurants.
Maureen Martino, executive director, Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce, described the art tour event: "Lakeview has always been considered an artist community and in recent years we have become like a Mecca to art. One doesn't need to go any further than Lakeview East; we have it all right here! With this event we would like people to have an enjoyable evening and experience a kaleidoscope of art that ranges in size, form and style."
The event is sponsored by Lake View East Chamber of Commerce and Northalsted Area Merchants Association (NAMA). Co-sponsors include Trader Todd's, El Jardin Restaurant, Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Breads & Wine, Cornelia's, Buca di Beppo, State Bank of Countryside, Rotary Club of Lakeview, and Inn of Lincoln Park.
"We were looking for a fun way to introduce people to the growing art scene and with Valentine's Day around the corner, the Art View in Lakeview is an appropriately romantic thing to do," explained Gloria Shoff, executive director of Northalsted Area Merchants Association.
The "Art Crawl" is open to all. There will be two trolley buses to transport guests from one gallery to another. Complimentary appetizers and wine sampling will be available at each stop, and people are welcome to buy art that evening if they desire.
