Obituary - John Blackman dies

John C. Blackman, 47, a longtime resident of Lincoln Square and the owner of Clean Sweep Janitorial and Maid Service, Inc., passed away Jan. 26, 2006, after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
He was a member of the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce, an avid traveler, and an amateur social worker. Mr. Blackman was a Veteran, US Army Airborne. He earned a BA in Business Management and Personnel from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mr. Blackman was the cherished husband of Carol for 29 years. He was the cherished son of Beatrice (Milford) Pence of Lomax, IL, and George (Kathy) Blackman of Monmouth, IL; the dear brother of Charles R. "Rick" Blackman, Jo Dowell, Carla Babcock and Chad Pence.
He leaves behind many dear step siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and employees, as well as his faithful companion, Abigail the Boston terrier. Memorial services are pending in Chicago and Monmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, (312) 372-0471.
