The Northcenter Chamber launched its 60th anniversary with an entertaining annual meeting Jan. 25 at Mrs. Murphy & Son's Irish Bistro that included the introduction and installation of a new Board of Directors, election of officers, presentation of the first annual service awards and live music from the Third Sunday String Band.
The new officers are president Peter D'Agostino (D'Agostino Management), first vice president Nate Marks (DesignMarks Corporation), second vice president Sima Kirsch (Sima L. Kirsch, P.C.), secretary Donna Shultz (Donna Shultz Graphic Designer), and treasurer Mark Dillon (Loyalty Mortgage).
Elected to the 2006 Northcenter Chamber Board of Directors slate were Tony Athans (Lincoln Restaurant), Mike Chapman (Advertising Solutions), Dan Creviston (George Street Productions), Laura Engel (Angel Sales), Rosann Fritz (FedEx-Kinko's), Guy Grundhoefer (Dun-Wel Lithograph Co.), James Haran (Haran Home Inspections), Jim Hoban (Brownstone Tavern), Richard Lucas (Lucas Tire and Auto Care), Ray Quinn (Martyrs' Pub), Vince Saverino (Ravenswood Bank), Scott Schechter (Eagle Strategies), Maribel Selva (Coldwell Banker) and Sanders Wilson (Dollar Discount). Past president is Chip Greenspan (Community Home Supply).
Presentation of the five Northcenter Chamber awards received much applause. The Gene Schulter Public Service Award was given to Ald. Gene Schulter (47th) by Graymills Corporation's VP Craig Shields. The Beautification Award was presented to Betty Bauer who brought up her team of volunteers and acknowledged each one. The Volunteer of the Year Award went to Peter Kattner who single-handedly sets up everything for the Chamber's Town Square events.
The Rising Star Award given to Samland Healthcare Group acknowledged their contributions not only to the Chamber but to the Northcenter community. Finally, the Northcenter Pioneer Award saluted Barnard F. Kearney who opened his CPA office in Northcenter in 1947 and was one of the founding members of the Chamber.
Executive director Morene Dunn's state of the chamber address listed the top accomplishments of 2005, from doubling the attendance and income of the monthly luncheons to launching Northcenter's SSA. |
