The William Ferris Chorale opens its 30th anniversary season with their much loved holiday concert, “Christmas with the Chorale,” Friday, Dec. 7, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 690 W. Belmont Ave. Concert time is 8 p.m.
A perennially popular event, the Christmas concert will include well known traditional carols, works of Renaissance masters, and a performance of Stephen Paulus’ “Jesu Carols” for harp and chorus, a work the Chorale commissioned and premiered in 1985.
Guest conductor Paul French leads the ensemble. French, the newly appointed organist at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, has appeared as both composer and conductor on several Chorale programs in past seasons. Stephen Hartman is harpist and Thomas Weisflog organist.
The Dec. 7 program includes works by Renaissance masters Gallus, Tye and Hassler; music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Domenico Bartolucci, Chrysogonus Waddell, and the premiere of French’s “Glouchestershire Wassail” as well as traditional Spanish and English carols.
Tickets are available at $20, $18 and $16; Visa and MasterCard accepted. There is ample free parking. For further information or to order tickets, call (773) 325-2000.
