Alpha Phi International Fraternity charters new chapter at DePaul



Alpha Phi International Fraternity on Jan. 20 presented a charter to establish its 143rd active chapter on the DePaul University’s Lincoln Park campus. Subsequently fifty members were initiated into the chapter. Alpha Phi is the fifth woman’s fraternity/sorority to be chartered at DePaul.

DePaul’s Alpha Phi chapter, Iota Eta, joins 142 other Alpha Phi collegiate chapters and more than 150 alumnae chapters across the United States and Canada. Members pledge for life and agree to live by the Fraternity’s values that emphasize camaraderie, humanity, scholarship and community service.

“We are delighted to have been selected as one of DePaul’s premiere women’s fraternities,” said Pamela J. Wilcox, executive director, Alpha Phi International Fraternity. “Alpha Phi seeks highly capable women who share a passion for lifelong learning and success. We are certain that the fifty new members will benefit from the guidance, friendships, and support our Fraternity offers, not only during their collegiate years, but throughout their entire lives,” Wilcox added.

Alpha Phi presented the charter to new members at an afternoon reception at DePaul University Student Center. New members of Alpha Phi Iota Eta chapter include: Carolyn Alwan, Anna Boltyanskaya, Stephanie Bonillos, Maria Borovilos, Kortnee Bush, Tiffany Caliendo, Angie Coker, Alyson Conner, Julie Corirossi, Kellie Dean, Julia Fisher, Emily Frankfurth, MaryEllen Helmkamp, Anna Hnatiuk, Miku Ishii, Becka Jackoboice, Meghan Kennihan, Amy Knerr, Nicole Ktenas, Lauren Kuchar, Meaghan Lally, Julie Lamz, Andrea Law, Robin Lindemann, Julie Mannarelli, Stefanie Marten, Ivy Martinez, Deanna Marzovillo, Emily Mitchell, Kathy Mocarski, Heidi Neuzil, Christine Parzygnat, Sarah Person, Jackie Piraro, Roxanne Rodica, Alex Rodriguez, Arden Schuman, Molly Schwing, Katie Secor, Katie Socha, Beth Spellman, Julie Sullivan, Kristen Szwed, Courtney Tepler, Joanna Vivilakis, Erin Ward, Jen Westfall, Christina Xydis and Amanda Zimmerman.

To further honor the new Alpha Phi chapter, the Alpha Phi Foundation, the Fraternity’s charitable arm, presented $1,000 to the Children’s Memorial Foundation, Cardiology Research of the Children’s Memorial Hospital. The Children’s Memorial Hospital is located just two blocks from the DePaul campus. The Alpha Phi Foundation’s main philanthropic mission is to support programs that advance cardiac care research.

Alpha Phi International Fraternity was founded in 1872 as one of the first Greek societies for women. The Fraternity has more than 120,000 members throughout the United States and Canada. A nonprofit organization, Alpha Phi Foundation is the philanthropic and education arm of Alpha Phi Fraternity. Through contributions from chapters, individual members and friends, the Alpha Phi Foundation supports cardiac care programs and other charitable projects and a variety of scholarships, financial aid and leadership training programs for women.
