The drawing for the grand prize raffle sponsored by the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce (LSCC) was held on Dec. 4 during the Chamber’s annual holiday dinner-dance at the Chicago Brauhaus.
The grand prize, round-trip air transportation to Frankfurt, Germany, for winner and companion in main cabin provided by American Airlines, went to Fred and Katie Degerberg of the Degerberg Academy of Martial Arts, who are long-time Chamber members and who were present at the dinner-dance. Lady Luck was with the Degerbergs that evening, as they also won the fourth prize, a gift basket donated by Delicatessen Meyer.
Hans Hunger won the first prize, a $500 savings bond donated by Corus Bank. He bought his winning ticket during the German-American Fest in September.
Richard Drehobl of the Lincoln Square Lanes won the second prize, a beautiful collector beer stein donated by the Chicago Brauhaus. The Lincoln Square Lanes are also Chamber members.
Mary Stachurski won the third prize, a signed stained glass hanging piece donated by The Glass Art & Decorative Studio.
The Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce holds this annual fund-raiser to help pay for the holiday decorations of the Lincoln Square community, and sends special thanks to American Airlines for providing the grand prize; to the Chamber members who donated the other raffle items; and to Ald. Gene Schulter (47th) for making the necessary arrangements with the city for the electricity for the illuminated decorations and for the Italian lights. The fountain in Giddings Plaza was beautifully decorated for the holidays, courtesy of Ald. Schulter, who also provided the Christmas tree. Larry P. Jones of the Davis Theater coordinated the decoration of the Christmas tree and the other trees with Italian lights with a crew provided by AT&T Broadband.
“Many thanks to all the Chamber members and friends who bought raffle tickets. Their support made it possible for Lincoln Square to again sparkle for the holidays, which the entire community as well as visitors enjoyed,” said Maria Bappert, administrative director of LSCC.
