The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum’s attendance topped 27,000 visitors in December, more than tripling attendance numbers from a year ago and bringing year-to-date attendance to almost three times what it was at this time last year. The popular exhibit “Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body” and enhancements to permanent exhibits have brought visitors to the museum at a rate not experienced since the months surrounding the museum’s opening in October 1999.
Museum officials expect attendance rates to remain high with the opening on Feb. 8 of the major traveling exhibit “American Originals: Treasures from the National Archives.” The exhibit brings to Chicago pages from the original Emancipation Proclamation, as well as more than 40 other American history-making documents.
