On Sunday, Feb. 17, Special Musicians from the Welles Park Special Music by Special People program will celebrate the creation of their first DVD disc. In late 2001 the Special Musician organization began to catalogue over two albums of music (as MP3 files), song lyrics and over 300 photos from their tours and TV show appearances on one CD-ROM disc. “Thanks to the help of Mike Dolan, a very talented Web site developer and digital music producer/composer, our CD-ROM archives the past ten years of our songwriting and touring, all on one CD-ROM disc. We wanted to continue to document and create products that can demonstrate the accomplishments of the Special Musicians,” said Joe Yost, founder and director of the Special music by Special People program.
“This group based on Chicago’s north side has been creating original music for over a dozen years. Once we released our debut audio compact disc “What’s For Lunch!” we were propelled into the media spotlight and began to be featured on many television shows performing our most popular hit songs! Naturally, we wanted to continue creating products in the digital domain by producing a DVD.
“Thanks to the suggestions and help of Stafford Huyler of Netboy Productions (netboy.com) we were able to take years of TV show appearances and our own raw video footage to create a DVD release that demonstrates what Special Music is all about. The disc also has digital images from the Special Musicians 2001 tour.”
The party will be held at 2 p.m. at El Jardin Restaurant, 3335 N. Clark St., with free popcorn. If you are going to attend this free event, call Gloria Ortiz to RSVP, at (773) 528-6775.
