Once again O’Brien’s Restaurant & Bar will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all weekend, beginning Thursday, March 14, through Sunday, March 17. There will be live music, Irish lunch buffets, corned beef and cabbage dinners, shepherd’s pie, Irish soda bread and other Irish favorites. This year, O’Brien’s will focus on a lavish Irish lace curtain Sunday Irish Breakfast on St. Patrick’s Day itself with all the trimmings.
Music includes Dyed in the Wool, The Chicago Rovers, The Shannon Rovers, Those Funny Little People, The Mulane Dancers, Jimmy Keane’s bands, bohola, Anne Harris, Dan Darrah and others. The 11th Annual Oh Danny Boy Singing Contest will be in full swing on Sunday late afternoon with Jimmy Damon as the Master of Ceremonies! The Queen of the 2002 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, along with her court and former Queens of the Parade, will have their annual luncheon on Thursday to start this packed weekend.
O’Brien’s Internet car auction will feature a 1985 Pulse, which is a combination of a car and a motorcycle, which is donated by patriotic Dan O’Brien. Check O’Brien’s Web site or Mercy Homes’ Web site at mercyhome.org for more information or to place your bid. The sale of the Pulse will be donated to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
The Month of Mercy continues through March 17. Come in for a dinner special and receive a book of raffle tickets. The raffle, which benefits Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, offers great prizes, including round trip airfare for two to Ireland, a weekend package stay at Chicago Hilton and Towers, a piece of Waterford from Mrs. Hyne’s Irish Cottage, a box of Diana Silvius cigars, dinners at O’Brien’s, golf at Whittaker Woods and a gift certificate from Eco Fields. Father Close will be around to pick the lucky winners!
