Camelot—A Children’s Kingdom has recently opened at 2216 N. Clybourn Ave. in the heart of Lincoln Park. Featuring European, Peruvian and American children’s designers, the store carries clothing and accessories from infants through size 6X.
This is a specialty store carrying domestic and also foreign lines that are usually not found in Chicago or even the U.S. And why is this new boutique so unique? Peruvian-born Carmen D’Zela and her French-born husband Lionel Girandin are the owners, and they bring a very international flavor to children’s merchandising.
Medieval England is the inspiration for the décor of Camelot, with the legend of King Arthur as its theme. Gold and yellow tones with harlequins painted on the walls create a unique and spacious atmosphere. The store also has a mural showing King Arthur welcoming a knight (maybe Lancelot) into Camelot.
Camelot boasts of a comprehensive summer inventory and its fall line will highlight TAKI-TO outerwear from Austria. Among the many international pieces are two French lines–Violet knits and Valeria, clothes that are worn by the children of Princess Caroline of Monaco. Further, owner Carmen D’Zela is going to Italy for the Children’s Trade Show in June, and is sure to find enticing items there.
Along with fabulous fashion, this new Clybourn boutique will have storytelling for youngsters, fashion shows for tots and lots of other children’s delights. The store is open Tuesday through Sundays. For additional information, please call (312) 266-8729.
