A pilot program will pay for the recycling of old refrigerators and freezers. Old appliances are energy hogs so the City, Commonwealth Edison, Illinois Dept. of Commerce, and the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance will pay $50 to owners and haul them away at no charge.
