Academy of Sciences experiment goes condo

The corner of Clark and Dickens streets has been the home of the Chicago Academy of Sciences since it vacated its building in the park, now the home of zoo offices.

The Sciences building was leased from the Park District with the understanding that when the Academy no longer needed the space and the move to the new Notebaert Museum was completed, the building would be put on the market.

The building was sold to Chicago Partners LLC whose plans for condo conversion were rejected in March by the Zoning Board of Appeals. A new plan has been proposed that takes the council’s reservations into consideration.
