Throw out your old and tired...

Get rid of such basement hangers-on such as paint cans, used motor oil, pesticides, and cleaning products on Saturday, June 8. The DeVry Institute has hitched its wagon the City's Department of the Environment. They are calling for all those old possessions that damage the environment to be dropped off at DeVry, 3300 N. Campbell Ave. ( one block northwest of Belmont and Western avenues) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This program is limited to residential waste that includes aerosols, photographic chemicals, antifreeze, mercury thermometers, household batteries and fluorescent light bulbs.

A $60 rebate for a new environmentally friendly battery powered Black and Decker lawn mower is offered to anyone who turns in their old gas guzzler.

The City also encourages residents to turn in their old gas cans and get a new container designed to reduce harmful gas fumes by 75 percent. Five and ten gallon sizes will be available on a first come first served basis.

No explosives or car batteries will be accepted. For more information call the city's recycling hotline at (312) 744-1614 or see their Web site www. cityofchicago. org/ environment.
