The University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education (OCE) announced this week that it is extending its discount on all Office of Continuing Education noncredit courses to individuals who have recently been laid off. The discount applies to former employees of companies of any size in the Chicago area who have been laid off in the last twelve months.
The program requires a student to submit documentation of employment termination in the last 12 months. The program applies to professional development classes and workshops offered by the OCE in Chicago, as published in the Chicago Programs catalog and at the Chicago Programs Web site, www.conted.uiuc.edu/chicago.
Programs offer courses that professionals can use to develop skills that make them more employable, including courses in the areas of Web design, Web programming, Unix administration, Java programming, marketing, communications, advertising, digital business strategies, environmental education, and Oracle training. The courses are offered in the Loop, Oak Brook, and Lake County, so students can choose course locations convenient for them. Some courses are offered in an online format, allowing students to learn whenever and wherever it is most convenient for them.
