Again this summer the Lincoln Park Conservatory, 2931 N. Stockton Dr., will host the free Summer Art & Garden Show, now through Nov. 3, featuring an installation of sound, text, image and object throughout the lush, green foliage of the hothouse.
A collaborative installation of mini-events including sound, text, image and objects, "Something More Than Night," by Ellen Rothenberg, Terri Kapsalis, and John Corbett, suggests a fragmentary noir-like mystery. A visitor, like a detective considering a shifting puzzle, uncovers a series of sonic and visual clues located in the tropical lushness of the Conservatory.
Art elements will be stationed throughout the Conservatory and incorporated into the annual Summer Tropical Show. The sensory art, serving as both companion and contrast to the natural sounds, smells and sights of a conservatory, provides a new perspective to the living, working conservatory. Over 1,500 tropical plants including Pineapple Lily, Mexican Coral Drops, Parrot Leaf, Busy Lizzy, Golden Dragon, Persian Shield and Jewel of Opar are on sale for the Tropical Show.
Lincoln Park Conservatory is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is free. For more information about the Lincoln Park Conservatory call (312) 742-7736.
