A new free admission policy, revitalized membership program, landmark publication, momentous exhibition, noteworthy public programs and fabulous festivities are all planned for the yearlong celebration of Terra Museum of American Art's 15th anniversary on Chicago's Magnificent Mile.
The anniversary year commences on July 2, when Terra Museum of American Art will suspend all admission charges for a year and inaugurate a new free admission policy. A suggested donation of $5 is welcome with all proceeds directly going to support museum programs. "All of us involved with Terra Museum—staff, docents, members and volunteers—are deeply committed to increasing the community's accessibility to the museum. As we celebrate our anniversary on Michigan Avenue, we rededicate ourselves to our mission of expanding and depending our understanding of American Art," said Elizabeth Glassman, director of Terra Museum. "It is our goal to enliven this mission by removing any barriers to admission, while encouraging donations to demonstrate support."
In expanding community involvement during the anniversary year, Terra Museum of American Art is revitalizing its membership program, Friends of American Art. This program is designed to provide members with more opportunities to participate with the museum. The new levels of membership are: $50 individual, $70 family, $150 associate, $500 patron and $1,000 donor. Membership benefits include invitations to special events, reduced rates on public programs, discounts at the museum store and reciprocal benefits to Terra Museum of American Art's sister institution, Musée d'Art Américain in Giverny, France.
Each year Terra Museum of American Art hosts a variety of exhibitions that explore the history, culture and heritage of American art. For more information, visit www.terramuseum.org or call (312) 664-3939.
