On Wednesday, Sept. 11, a 45-year-old self-employed female walked into the District 19 police station at Belmont and Western avenues to report that a fortune teller had taken $5,600 cash from her.
The victim reported to police that she sought the council of a fortune teller named Olga, 27, 5’3” and 110 lb., located in the 2800 block of N. Lincoln Ave. on Aug. 20.
Olga saw something in the victim’s future that could be avoided by following meticulous instructions that began with the removal of all her savings in her bank and closing the account at a specific time and date. She was told to mark 50, $100 bills with the letter “S” and 31, $20 bills with the letter “B”. Both marks had to be made with the same black marking pen.
The victim followed the instructions to the letter.
Olga arrived at the victim’s home accompanied by another woman in her 50s, 5’3” and 120 lb., named Alina or Elina. The victim let the offenders in. They made sure that the bills were properly marked and placed the stacks of currency in a grocery bag about two feet high. The offenders told the victim that they would return the next day at a specified time. The offenders said that at that time the victim was to return to the bank and open a new account and watch her money grow.
The next day the offenders did not return. The police report listed a sky blue floral set of bed sheets and pillow cases, and a Chanel eyeglass case were also missing.
